Jessica
“Jessica” is a dramatic and heartfelt true story. The adaptation of Bryce Courtenay’s novel is more wonderful than I could ever have expected, as it tells the story of a gut-wrenching story of a hapless life. The acting is brilliant all around.Leanna Walsman is perfect as main character Jessica Bergman, with her good looks and her extreme talent she tells a remarkable story of a heartbreaking life.Oliver Ackland is excellent as Jack Thomas, the love of both Jessica and her spoiled sister Meg’s (Megan Dorman) life, with his handsome charm and love for Jessica, how can you not like him? Wil Traval is just as superb as Billy Simple, the brain-damaged friend of Jessica & Jack. Traval puts in a beautiful performance.Sam Neill is wonderful as the drunken lawyer of both Billy & Jessica, Neill is the icing on the cake. Tony Martin is also great as Jessica’s dad Joe, his love and support for Jessica is beautiful. With other great supporting actors such as Lisa Harrow, Megan Dorman and John Howard “Jessica” is a soulful and riveting mini-series. 10/10.

Hello! First, let me say that thanks to Issa Lopez, Warner Brothers Pictures performed its first production in Mexico when they bought “Efectos Secundarios”. And I think that is something that we must recognize all Mexicans.Replying the previous comment, I think it is extremely illogical that Issa Lopez, has offended the Mexicans when she made “Casi Divas” and even more so with the fact that she is a woman and Mexican. Therefore, I don’t understand the aim from comments like…”So Issa ridicules the majority of women and paints as many people abroad think that Mexico is, a place of marginalized, uneducated, naive and corrupt and useless mentally.” The film industry in our country is in progress, the Mexican film has had amazing successes and recognition thanks to people like Issa Lopez, who has put the name of Mexico in the film industry.Casi Divas, it’s a comedy that shows us a very enormous reality. Yes, it is a reality. It’s a movie, and like all movies, can’t be displayed exactly as things are, you have to bring a touch of humor, drama, surprise,etc. that otherwise, would be somewhat boring. And I should mention that this is the second production in Mexico at Columbia Pictures, another merit for Issa Lopez, who also participated in “Nias Mal”, which was the first production at Columbia Pictures in our country.Beyond being a comedy, Casi Divas gives us a glance or a reminder of what happens in Cd. Juarez with the endless killings of women, discrimination or living Indians of different ethnicities in our country, and why not, also the rejection suffered by people with different preferences or changes in their sexuality, corruption of the rich and powerful. Perhaps it isn’t something that we can feel proud, but it’s a reality that we live and we can see reflected in a film that has been wrote years ago and now it’s a dream come true from Issa Lopez.To me, this film is excellent and is not for ridicule anyone, and we didn’t see us like marginalized, uneducated, naive, corrupt and useless mentally. As previously mentioned.

The Mysteries of Pittsburgh
Based on the novel by Michael Chabon, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh is about the young son of a notorious gangster who spends his last teenage summer roaming around with two friends. The year is 1983, and young Art Bechstein (Jon Foster) is at a crossroads. Completely opposed to his father’s lifestyle, Art plans to become a stockbroker. Visually contrived with painful attempts to create beautiful hip indie cinematography, the whole film feels like the director - whose previous effort Dodgeball was funny if outright commercial - is desperately seeking indie credibility by cobbling together aspects of other indie films but sprinkling it with stars like Mena Suvari, Sienna Miller and Nick Nolte. Like so many of the star-laden premieres at Sundance this year it felt like this was a secrety studio-sponsored vanity project to help the director earn some indie credibility points - it failed in that respect and as a film in its own right.
